I love the quietness, peace and gentleness of our local woods.  I love watching animal footprints - squirrels, rabbits, foxes, coyotes and deer. Sometimes, I will see the graceful deer as they eye me cautiously.  I love the crunch of my feet in the snow and the warm air from my nose and my mouth. The fresh air, the winter colors and the majestic trees energize me.

Forest bathing is the art of mindful meditation in the beauty and wonder of nature and trees and it can produce mental, emotional, and physical health benefits. Research has shown that forest bathing lowers blood pressure, pulse rate, and cortisol levels; improves mood; and may even boost our immunity to cancer and other diseases.

Join us to experience the benefits of this healing practice for yourself. This restorative activity can be enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities: children, teenagers, and even senior citizens with limited mobility and people recovering from illness and surgery.

Recent scientific studies show that regular meditation – the art of focusing your mind in the present – can make positive changes in your brain and make you more calm and positive.

We will be meeting outdoors at a beautiful local labyrinth. I will share some stories about labyrinths and guide you through a relaxing session of walking meditation. You will learn, with just a few minutes of meditation every day, you can be more calm, relaxed and happy.

What are Walking Labyrinths?

Labyrinths are complex (often circular) patterns that have a single path to guide you to the center and back. They are different from mazes because the path in a labyrinth is one way and you cannot get lost. While there are spiritual, religious and magical aspects of labyrinths, in this class, you will learn how walking a labyrinth can help focus your mind, help you relax, energize and dispel stress and anxiety.
